      <abstract>
        <p>The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in enhancing responsibility and reducing social isolation among individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The research employed a semi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test format, incorporating an unequal control group. The statistical population consisted of 367 individuals diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder in Broujard city during the second half of 1402. The study sample included 40 participants (20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group), selected through a non-probability convenience sampling method. To collect data, Goff’s Responsibility Questionnaire Scale (1984), Chalapi et al.'s Social Isolation Questionnaire (2013), and therapy sessions based on acceptance and commitment (Wolz et al., 2007) were utilized. Data analysis was conducted using multivariate analysis of covariance, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the homogeneity of variance test, and the linearity test for the correlation between the control and independent variables, all performed in SPSS version 25 with a significance level of 0.05 and a confidence level of 95%. The findings indicated that acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) effectively increased responsibility and reduced social isolation, leading to improved responsibility scores and decreased social isolation scores. Consequently, it was concluded that ACT-based therapy sessions serve as a valuable rehabilitation method, significantly reducing social isolation and enhancing responsibility among individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Thus, fostering acceptance and commitment in life plays a crucial and undeniable role in decreasing social isolation and promoting responsibility, particularly among those with obsessive-compulsive disorder in Broujard city.</p>
